New industrialization fuels Yinchuan's high-quality development
Industrial platforms in Yinchuan, the capital city of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, have fostered new driving forces for economic growth and have registered a sound economic performance over the past few years. This comes as a move to strengthen the ecological preservation of the Yellow River basin and promote the building of Yinchuan as a pilot demonstration area for high-quality development.
The Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone has focused on the development of such leading industries as new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, big health and "internet plus modern services." It has also adopted creative approaches to expand the channels of its business attraction, and has consolidated the building of industrial clusters.
A large number of high-tech and large-scale projects with bright futures across a wide range of areas have landed in the Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone. Statistics show that the economic and technological development zone has attracted 28 projects with a cumulative investment of 33.9 billion yuan, 21 of which are still under construction, as well as held talks with business partners regarding another 22 prospective projects, and registered a 12 percent year-on-year growth in its actual capital utilization to 9 billion yuan in 2021.
Suzhou-Yinchuan Industrial Park, which was founded by Yinchuan in collaboration with Suzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, in November 2018, also had an impressing economic performance last year.
For instance, the output of its industrial production hit 4.1 billion yuan, up by 59 percent year-on-year, and the investment in fixed assets saw an annual increase of 51.8 percent in 2021. All other major economic indicators in the area kept up with other industrial parks in the front rank as well.
Meanwhile, the consumption of standard coal and water resources in the Suzhou-Yinchuan Industrial Park is lower than the average level of all industrial zones in Ningxia, indicating that it has made consistent progress in the improvement of its development quality.
The Yinchuan Highway and Railway Logistics Service Center has given full play to the platform of the China-Arab States Expo, the building of a national logistics hub and the advantageous locations of Yinchuan in the construction of a regional center. The center is focused on international logistics, with it facing Ningxia, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces and connecting with partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and aims to cultivate new growth momentum for the local economy.
As of the end of 2021, the Yinchuan Highway and Railway Logistics Service Center had witnessed the entry of 62 firms and the launch of 43 freight train trips. This year, it will continue to further optimize its functions, improve infrastructural building, enhance the operational benefits, and strengthen the cultivation of leading industries in a drive to build it into an industrial park whose business output is estimated to be worth of over 10 billion yuan.
Scientific and technological innovation has been always at the top of the agenda of the Yinchuan-Zhongguancun Innovation and Entrepreneurship Technological Center. A research and development center of integrated circuit chips was put into use there on January 12 2022, filling a gap of Ningxia in the sector of chip packaging. Its products will be widely used in the manufacturing of smart phones, TVs, computers, auto-electronics, data storage and smart wearable devices.
So far, Yinchuan has 144 national high-tech firms, 88 key laboratories and engineering research centers, and 427 small, and medium-sized enterprises featuring frontier and cutting-edging technology.
The production output of the high-tech sector, represented by new material, new energy and new light industries, accounts for over 44 percent of Yinchuan's overall manufacturing industry. Its equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing sectors surged 24.6 percent and 46.9 percent when compared to the same period last year.
With the help of an improved innovation capacity, both the penetration rate of digital research and design tools and the rate of access to numerically-controlled key procedures in Yinchuan have surpassed 62 percent. Meanwhile, the coverage of information in main corporate businesses has hit 80 percent, and the integration of information with industrial development has reached 49.2 percent.
