Ningxia launches first community public health committee

On March 1, the first urban community public health committee in Ningxia was inaugurated in Jinfeng district, Yinchuan city. 

The committee is located in the Yinxinyuan North Community, West Shanghai Road sub-district. It is a prelude to the establishment of public health committees in 82 villages or communities in Jinfeng district.

Yinxinyuan North Community and Bishui Lantian Community Hospital signed a public health service agreement, and family doctors and residents signed a personalized service package on that day. After the signing ceremony, the hospital gave out free medical cards to residents, and carried out health consulting services like signing with family doctors and medical treatment.

The public health committee provides residents with comprehensive medical and health services based on their needs. It also sets up menu-style contract service packages and provides individual services for different groups, including the general population, key population -- such as women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities -- and patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, continuously improving residents' public health awareness and satisfaction.

"The community public health committees will be beneficial for the primary health care institutions and residential committees through timely and efficient communication, so as to do a good job in primary public health," said Zhao Xiaoxiang, deputy director of Bishui Lantian Community Hospital.

It is learned that the West Shanghai Road sub-district of Jinfeng district will rely on the public health committees to promote the connection between basic public health services and basic medical services. It will provide continuous basic medical and health services for residents in the grid management, including basic medic and health services, public health services, childbirth management, rehabilitation nursing, health education, health management, etc. People can surely feel the convenience brought about by the integrative health services.

In addition, Fengdeng town of Jinfeng district recently held a start-up meeting to establish a village-level public health committee in conjunction with health centers and police stations under its jurisdiction. The village-level public health committees will mobilize the medical and health resources to allocate medical services precisely and provide professional public health services for residents. This enhances the village committee's capability to coordinate, organize and provide public health services at the same time.

Jinfeng district also launched the establishment of public health committees in all villages and communities on Feb 22, enhancing a "protective net" for people's full life cycle health and safety.

"We plan to fully cover the 82 public health committees of villages and communities under the jurisdiction of the two towns and six sub-districts in Jinfeng district by the end of March, and further establish the primary public health mechanism in each village or community by the end of April. The mechanism dynamically links up the regular and emergency management, which helps our works to be more normative, systematic and socialized," said Xie Shaohua, director of Jinfeng District Health Bureau.
