Village in Jinfeng district undergoes improvement program

Fengdeng town of Jinfeng district, Yinchuan city, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, has carried out improvements on the rural living environment with scientific planning and innovation, and by beautifying villages.

Wang Yaohe, 67 years old, moved to Runfeng village, Fengdeng town, Jinfeng district from Banzigou village of Xiji county in 2017. According to him, both infrastructure and environment here were unbearable at that time. However, Runfeng village had a big change after the implementation of the rural living environmental improvement program, seen in things from the renovation of the gates, walls and windows to the reconstruction of toilets, roads and installation of facilities like street lamps.

"Since the government implemented the living environmental improvement in our village at the end of last year, our yards have been tidied up, walls have been repaired, and gardens have been renovated. It looks quite neat and comfortable to live in. The improvement is indeed a good thing for villagers," Wang said.

Based on its own advantages, Runfeng village has vigorously developed the rural tourism industry. It has fully exploited the "Hui-style" architectural features of the village, integrated existing resources, and carried out "village-enterprise" cooperation. There were 22 idle courtyards that have been reconstructed in the promotion of the "Runfeng accommodation and market" program. The village is on its way to realizing the goal of "making tourists stay" on the basis of getting them to feel "interested, eating well and having fun".

Ma Xiaolong, deputy chief of Fengdeng town, said that more than 30 coordination and promotion meetings have been held since Runfeng village started the environmental improvement. And the management methods for new and refurbished houses have been issued. By adopting grid management in the jurisdiction and forbidding unauthorized construction, the village's style has become uniform and harmonious. It has completed landscaping, beautification of the whole village and courtyards of 76 households, effectively enhancing the villagers' sense of happiness and satisfaction.

To effectively connect the achievement of poverty alleviation with rural revitalization, Fengdeng town has taken bolder steps as a trailblazer and adopted the development model of "Party branches plus cooperatives plus bases plus rural households". The model has actively explored methods to elevate the villagers' quality of life.

Fengdeng town held a commendation meeting of beautiful courtyards to encourage and reward the villagers. Fifty-one rural households were commended. It also led villagers to form self-governance on environmental protection and improvement in their daily lives.

"We will fully implement the 'Five-Year Action Plan for the Improvement of the Rural Living Environment', starting from the rural living environment renovation. Through boosting the integration of livable environment and industrial development, we are committed to bringing a high-quality agriculture and enabling the countryside to be livable and enterprise-adaptable," Ma added.
