Jinfeng district holds crafts training for people with disabilities

The Disabled Persons' Federation of Jinfeng district, the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, held a 5-day training course on handmade leather crafts in Liangtian town on May 10. More than 20 people with disabilities participated in the training.

Ma Aiping, a villager from Xingyuan village, Liangtian town, once ran a noodle restaurant in town. Due to physical reasons, she could not operate the restaurant anymore and was forced to stay home. After she heard about the training, she signed up on her own initiative.

"By participating in the training course, we can learn a lot of knowledge and master some skills. A piece of handicraft can be sold for five yuan, and we can earn about 1,000 yuan a month, which helps us ease a lot of economic burdens," Ma said.

In recent years, the federation of Jinfeng district has successfully launched a series of free training programs for people with disabilities focusing on the skills that are easy to learn and can get them employed. The federation has provided technical support and helped them find jobs or start their own businesses.

"In the next stage, we will continue to carry out training courses like blind massage technique, e-commerce livestreaming, and practical rural technology. Providing training courses can help those with employment difficulties, improve their family income and living conditions", said Li Huijuan, vice-chairman of the federation of Jinfeng district.
